Metro Missionaries to Detroit/Dearborn
BIO INFORMATION:
Rev. Scott Sistrunk and his wife, Karla are 40 years old. Rev. Scott Sistrunk was raised under
the ministry of Rev. Thomas L. Craft in Jackson, Mississippi. Karla was raised under the
ministry of her father, Rev. Irvin Baxter, Jr., in Richmond, Indiana. They have three children;
Darron is 18, Raquel is 17, and Chase is 15. They have lived in Michigan, in the Detroit Metro
area, for over nineteen years. After graduating from JCM in 1987 they assisted Rev. William Nix
in Ypsilanti, Michigan for several years and in 1992 went to South Africa for a year as furlough
replacements for Sister Wilma Ruth Nix. They came back to the Ypsilanti church, and with the help of that church, in
the last ten years, they have planted three thriving churches in the Detroit Metro area. They have also helped
directly with several others. They are currently planting churches in the cities of Detroit and Dearborn.
RECENT UPDATE AS OF JANUARY 2009:
"We are looking forward to the coming year as we continue to grow and plan a new church plant in 2009! Our main
task in 2009 will be deputation, replenishing our budget without disrupting the work that God has established."
For the Metro Detroit area: "We were successful in purchasing the church building for Dearborn in the first week of
February 2008. We have been able to make our presence known in our new location and have had visitors from the
neighborhood who have been baptized and received the Holy Ghost!"
In Detroit: "We had an exciting summer. We had an intern from Indiana Bible College, Adam Riggle, come in May and
stay until October. What a great blessing he was to us in both churches. In August we bought a church building in
Detroit. Our first service was Sept. 7th, and after passing out 500 flyers, we had around 60 first time visitors, mostly
from the neighborhood."
