What should I wear?
Come as you are! Most people dress casual—jeans, t-shirts, sweatshirts, even sweatpants. Because we’re an Apostolic Pentecostal church, some folks choose to dress modestly (long skirts, men in suits, etc.), but there’s no expectation or strict rules for visitors. Just wear whatever helps you feel comfortable and welcome.
What’s the vibe of the service?
Services last about an hour and include music, a message, and time for prayer or reflection. The worship can be lively and emotional, some people might cry, so if you feel moved to cry or just need a moment, that’s totally okay and normal—this is a safe space for all feelings.
Can I bring my kids? What’s the kids’ program like?
Absolutely! We have a fun, safe kids ministry for school-age kids, plus a fully furnished nursery room for little ones under 3. The nursery has toys, rocking chairs, and a screen so you can watch the service live if you need to step out during a meltdown, diaper change or just want a quiet space.
What if my kid has a meltdown during service?
No worries at all! You’re welcome to stay with your child, use the fully equipped nursery if they’re little, or step out and come back as needed—whatever feels best for you and your family. We know parenting is tough and heroic, and you’ll never be judged here. Plus, we offer noise-cancelling headphones for neurodivergent kids who might find the worship volume overwhelming, because this church is for the kids — their safety, comfort, and joy matter to us just as much as yours.
Is there a place to breastfeed or change babies?
Yes! Our nursery has clean, private spaces for feeding and diaper changes. We also keep some essential supplies on hand if you need anything. Just ask a greeter anytime for help finding it or getting what you need.
Do I have to say or do anything to “join”?
Nope. You’re welcome to visit as often or as little as you want. There’s no pressure to commit or say anything unless you want to.
What if I’m not sure what I believe yet? Will I be judged?
We get it. Lots of people come with questions or doubts. You won’t be judged here—everyone’s on a journey, and you’re welcome just as you are.
Does the church welcome LGBTQ+ people?
At Life Church Valpo, we believe everyone deserves respect and love. We welcome people from all walks of life to come as they are and explore faith without fear of judgment. While we hold to traditional beliefs about marriage and faith, our focus is on creating a safe, supportive community where questions and doubts are okay. If you’re wondering how you’d fit, know that you’re not alone—and you’re welcome to be here.
Is there coffee?
Yes! Coffee is available at all times. We know how important that is 😅.
How do I get connected or ask questions without feeling awkward?
You can always message us through our website or social media or talk to anyone on the team (we wear badges that identify us) at any time. We’re here to help.
Who can I ask questions to?
You can ask anyone on our team! Look for members of the Dream Team—they wear badges so you can spot them easily. We’re here to help with whatever you need, no question is too small.
What about parking?
Parking is free and easy, with spots close to the entrance. We’ll have signs and volunteers on Sundays to guide you.
How can I learn more about your beliefs or get involved?
We’d love to chat with you! Come to our two “First Steps” classes to hear about Life Church’s mission and vision or just reach out anytime to talk with a team member. Ask questions, explore at your own pace—We’d love to chat and get to know you!
